About The Position

Directs activities of all production areas in an efficient manner for the desired quality and quantity of work.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of written communication formats, business English and composition.
  • Provides training to develop knowledge skills and abilities of operators.
  • Knowledge of QA manual.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and self-motivational skills.
  • Organized, responsible, punctual, and self-disciplined.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, machine functions, and test gauges. Dexterity in using hand tools.
  • Knowledge of all safety procedures and housekeeping practices.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
  • Ability to work beyond regular shift if necessary.
  • Knowledge of operations and equipment and ability to make minor corrections when necessary.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Close visual work on the computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate 100% of the time via phone, e-mail or in person to internal and external customers
  • Moves frequently about the facility walking, bending, stooping, climbing and reaching.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position standing or sitting 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally lifts/and or carries objects about the facility up to 35 lbs. or with the proper equipment.
  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, odors and fumes.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering degree a plus but not required.
  • Two (2) years leadership or equivalent (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a positive role model consistent with Polo’s corporate culture at all times.
  • Monitors activities of all personnel and operations in departments. Establishes priorities (goals) for individual task assignments within the department.
  • Ensures high quality products are produced by teams efficiently and effectively.
  • Complies, supports, and enforces all policies and procedures in regards to safety, quality, quantity and housekeeping standards.
  • Directs with respect to quality, production volume, cost, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.
  • Confers with other department managers to maintain and meet work schedules.
  • Works with Resource Manager closely on staffing needs.
  • Assures that machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained. Makes recommendations for new equipment and/or attachment accessories.
  • Maintains good associate relations and takes proper measures if disciplinary action is needed.
  • Adheres to good manufacturing practices.
  • Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of non-value added practices within the departments.
  • Establishes goals for production in association with other department managers.
  • Reviews shop product alerts and justifies for changes when needed.
  • Notifies maintenance department of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken, and quality problems or supplies needed.
  • Conducts regular monthly meetings with departments to review production goals and quality problems and conveys management concerns and/or accomplishments.
  • Conducts performance evaluations for associates during orientation period and annually with input from Support, as well as recommends pay increases within company policy.
  • Participates in daily meetings and other project meetings.
  • Sets an example of high performance and is team oriented.
  • Ensures that external and internal customers’ needs are met.
  • Travels to seminars or off site facilities when necessary.
  • Responsible for a clean and orderly production area.
