The Production Machine Operator is responsible for the basic setup and operation of automatic machines to produce parts according to blueprints, router packages, specifications, and special instructions. This role involves ensuring parts conform to quality standards, recognizing and addressing minor machine malfunctions, and adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Working experience of manufacturing environment procedures.
Minimum of 1 - 3 years experience and/or training within an Aerospace fastener manufacturing &/or industrial shop; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Team Members of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Knowledge of basic shop math.
Ability to calculate in all units of measure, using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to comprehend detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Knowledge of basic computer skills and departmental applications: SPC & Shop Floor System.

Responsibilities

Performs basic sets up and operates up to three automatic machines to produce parts according to blueprints, router package, specifications and/or special instructions.
Recognizes and detects machine out-of-tolerance and adjust controls or control media as required.
Performs basic trial runs to check accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Checks parts for conformance to specifications using gauges, SPC and shop floor system.
Recognizes and remedies minor machine malfunctioning and in-process inspections.
Reports major discrepancies to lead or supervisor.
Determines and performs proper feed and speed combinations.
Provide necessary information to Manufacturing team, Engineering Team or others to document procedures and drawings.
Performs work operations under supervision.
Checks tooling and reworks as needed to keep machine running.
Lays out parts for successive and continuous machining operations.
Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards, by following blueprints or work instructions.
Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows all safety regulations.
Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
Works under recommended waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the manufacturing production function such as recycling opportunities to elimination or minimize production waste.
Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned.
Respecting and ensuring respect for the instructions and rules established in the field of health, safety and the environment (in particular the LISI golden rules).
Immediately correcting, whenever possible, or reporting to his or her superiors and/or the HSE department, any malfunction or risky situation in the fields of health, safety and environmental protection.
Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks.
Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope.
Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work.
Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives.
To be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact.
