This position reports to the Production Supervisor, and is an integral part of the production team in ensuring efficiency, adherence to production schedule, employee training, and product quality. Assists in coordinating all aspects of the packaging department for the cuts and mashed potato lines. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree, and/or 2-4 years related experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees processing/packaging operations to ensure daily production goals are met. Accomplished through monitoring production employees, and re-directing staff as needed due to production schedule, as well as breaks and lunches, and verifying product quality.
  • Works closely with other operations staff, such as Processing, Maintenance, QA, R&D, and Shipping/Receiving to troubleshoot and resolve any production-related delays, downtime, product holds, etc. and communicates with the Production Supervisor.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiencies and reduce production costs.
  • Supports all company safety programs. Ensures a safe working environment for all employees, by monitoring safety performance and assures compliance with established policies, procedures and goals.
  • Coordinate and executes employee training to ensure production procedures are followed and meet all daily requirements.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • All food safety and human safety concerns need to be reported to appropriate personnel such as QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
