About The Position

The Production Lead's responsibility is to ensure staff complete the products per standardized work instructions and with high quality.  This position will monitor staff’s performance and address issues concerning the production and quality of a product.   This is a working position in the work cell which operates within an environment where standardized work, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S principles are practiced.  This position reports to the Production Lead II.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years prior experience building basic mechanical and/or electrical assemblies or assembly preparation
  • Up to 1-year experience mentoring or supervising others
  • Detail-oriented and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to organize assemblies in an efficient manner
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Exhibit cooperation and teamwork skills
  • Basic math skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers & measurements
  • Convert inches to millimeters
  • Basic computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated and eager to take on responsibility
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Daily team engagement through morning meetings and communication boards
  • Assign daily work to the work cell and give instructions to the team
  • Check and perform routine quality audits and first article inspection to approve new team members and production methods/processes/procedures
  • Monitor productivity, safety, quality, and delivery goals of the work cell
  • Handles minor team conflict and escalates when appropriate
  • Refers to the engineer drawings to ensure the correct parts are pulled and used
  • Coordinates activities to produce orders according to standardized work instructions
  • Maintain supplies, inventory, and documentation at stations
  • Follows all safety regulations and enforces safety policies
  • Sets daily productivity goals and works with the team to achieve them
  • Leads and participates in daily cell changeovers
  • Performs preventive maintenance
  • Solves routine problems by utilizing troubleshooting methods
  • Insures that standardized work and Lean manufacturing practices are being followed
  • Recommends and assists in improvement projects
  • Performs other essential duties as assigned by management
