Founded in 1983 by principal shareholder William I. Koch, Oxbow is one of the world's largest recyclers of refinery and natural gas coproducts. The Production Engineer functions as a common technical resource between all plant departments to execute multi-disciplined projects through effective project management, communication skills, and operational expertise. Utilizes operational expertise to troubleshoot problems and plan and execute solutions that improve the overall effectiveness of the petroleum coke calcining process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred, or related field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience required, 3 years preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • May sit for extended amount of time in office in front of computer.
  • May work outdoors which can include extreme working conditions and inclement weather conditions.
  • As needed, be able to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas.
  • Must be able to handle working with petroleum coke products and use respiratory protection
  • Able to work in dusty environment
  • Must be able to work with hand tools
  • Must be able to load and unload heavy equipment, either with manual labor or by operating machinery.
  • Must train in safety requirements at the facility.
  • Must be required to move about to coordinate work.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Must be able to travel as needed
  • Will be on call as needed
  • Ability to communicate or exchange ideas by means of verbal or written word to impart information to contractors and to convey detailed Instructions to other workers.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with applicable safety and environmental requirements and works to improve processes related to these programs.
  • Understands the calcining process and serves as a technical reference for those performing work in the production area.
  • Receives and combines input from all disciplines to support workflow and process improvements.
  • Identifies and prioritizes issues in the production process, taking systematic actions to resolve them in a sustainable manner.
  • Develops both short- and long-term improvement projects, including financial justifications for high-cost initiatives.
  • Reviews daily production records and reports results to management.
  • Prepares documentation in line with the existing MOC program to address gaps in operational records.
  • Enhances methods for monitoring and controlling the process.
  • Tests and documents changes or new equipment as installed; develops training materials suitable for all employee levels.
  • Assists with coordinating environmental testing related to production.
  • Occasionally fills in as backup for various management positions in the Production area after adequate training, including overseeing production and process activities.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely in different communication settings and styles, tailoring messages to audience needs.
  • Establishes goals and objectives that are specific, measurable, achievable, and relevant.
  • Supports management with special projects, workflow process improvements, and other assigned duties.
