Determines the optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing company products from start-up, building the product line, through satisfactory production. This includes analyzing engineering design documents to establish manufacturing methods and processes to manufacture a component, creating conceptual sketches and initiating the design and building of required tooling. Describes outside vendor services needed for the manufacture of a component. Establishes outsourced vendor manufacturing & quality plans. Roles that drive improvement to product cost, quality and performance by utilizing Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) methodologies should be assigned to this job family. Jobs that provide engineering technical support in this field should be assigned to this job family.

Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve safety risks and uncontrolled hazards
- Use Daily Management and Problem Solving DIVE process to improve focus factory KPI’s – 4E risk score, Customer Complaints, First Pass Yield, Scrap, On Time Delivery, Production Lines Down, and Labor Productivity
- Maintain accurate production data, including labor routings, BOM’s, part costs, cycle times, and standard work playbooks
- Create and update manufacturing work instructions and validate manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment
- Initiate engineering change orders and documentation changes in accordance with quality management system standards
- Lead capital expense projects through all project phases
- Coordinate changes cross-functionally with planning, purchasing, sourcing, quality, and R&D departments
- Identify, prioritize, and lead continuous improvement initiatives using VES Lean Manufacturing tools
