Analyzes backlog, potential and related inventories to order and expedite the delivery of purchased/fabricated parts, raw materials, nonproductive supplies, equipment, and assemblies to meet customer schedules and emergencies. Determines availability of items or an acceptable source of supply or substitution by analyzing blueprints and other technical data when required. Consults with Manufacturing, Engineering, Tooling, Quality Assurance, Planning, Procurement, etc. to recommend and obtain authorization to effect material changes or substitutions to alleviate all types of shortages and ensure the flow of materials through Manufacturing and Quality Assurance. Investigates the cause of chronic shortages, delays, and similar critical problems in the manufacture of tools, parts and assemblies and initiates appropriate corrective action. Requests transportation or handling equipment to transport materials to and from shop areas. Loads, unloads, and moves materials as required, utilizing proper material handling procedures, and exercising a knowledge of Company facilities and location of parts, materials, equipment, and tools stored within stockrooms, stores and cribs; adjusts and maintains inventory balances as required and initiates return of unused parts. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced fluid environment, must be a self-starter, and must be able to communicate effectively with peers, customers, and senior management on customer order/part status and any major or reoccurring issues.
