Summary: The Production Control Coordinator is a member of the Production Control team and supports the day-to-day execution of the production schedule within the Rolled Products and Cast Shop operations. This role focuses on monitoring workflow, tracking WIP, supporting schedule execution, and providing data and coordination support to planners, operations, and continuous improvement teams. The position emphasizes execution, visibility on the production floor, and data tracking, rather than ownership of system-level performance or strategic outcomes. The coordinator works under the guidance of production planners and leadership to help maintain material flow, support on-time delivery goals, and identify issues requiring escalation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Exposure to production scheduling or production control activities.
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and pull systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with data sets and tracking metrics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Associate degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • While performing the duties of this job, will be regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • May be exposed to wet or humid conditions.
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • May be regularly exposed to high noise environments.
  • May be exposed to extremely dusty environments.
  • May be exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as AS400 or OpsCenter preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, operations management, manufacturing, business, or related field.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing process environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily production activities by tracking progress against the established production schedule.
  • Monitor work-in-process (WIP) status and flag stalled, delayed, or on-hold material for review.
  • Assist with expediting production when directed to support customer delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate execution activities related to the production plan created by production planners.
  • Review WIP on quality hold and communicate status updates to appropriate teams.
  • Assist in tracking late orders and gathering data to support root cause analysis.
  • Monitor production loops in the Cast Shop and Rolled Products and report deviations.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze production data to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through routine audits and system updates.
  • Participate in daily production meetings to help communicate constraints such as equipment downtime or staffing issues.
  • Provide basic support to operators and assist with process understanding as needed.
  • Prepare and share routine reports on production metrics for supervisors and planners.
  • Backfill production planners on a limited basis when required and trained.
