About The Position

La Mar Ka, a subsidiary of AquaPhoenix Scientific, has an immediate opening for a full-time Production Chemist based in Baton Rouge, LA to join our manufacturing team.  La Mar Ka is an industry leader in the manufacture and distribution of laboratory standards reagents, and custom blend solutions utilized in a number of industries including petrochemical, cleaning and sanitation, and industrial water treatment.    This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic, reliable, and detailed-oriented individual with at least a two-year degree in Chemistry.   Primary responsibilities include the accurate daily production of reagents, standards, and custom blends manufactured to company and customer standards.  Requires an ability to maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards, while optimizing manufacturing efficiency. The Production Chemist is a hands-on position that requires a balance of trade and industry knowledge combined with the following areas of critical focus and skills:

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or industrial production (1–3+ years preferred, not required)
  • Knowledge of chemical processing techniques and safety standards
  • Familiarity and knowledge of ISO9001 standards, regulatory and safety requirements. Lean manufacturing, and Kanban initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in laboratory equipment and process control systems
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work collaboratively with internal and external customers.
  • Speak, read, and write English to comprehend and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and/or instructions.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as required by Company and OSHA standards.
  • Able to stand, sit, move, bend, twist for extended periods of time and safely lift up to 50 lbs. infrequently.
  • Execute assignments in an ethical, accurate, timely, and safe manner with the ability to perform tasks through to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and monitor chemical production processes according to SOPs
  • Scale up laboratory formulations to manufacturing batches
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, OSHA, and environmental regulations
  • Conduct in-process quality checks and analytical testing
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate batch records and production documentation
  • Collaborate with Quality Control and R&D teams
  • Support process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Use, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instrumentation to include meters and balances
  • Ability to meet EPA 40CFR 262.17 regulation for handling, cleaning, and collecting chemicals.
