About The Position

This role is ideal for an experienced technical professional who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges and providing hands-on support for industrial and commercial power systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, commission, and optimize equipment such as generators, switchgear, and control systems. The position requires strong analytical skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal engineering teams and field personnel. You will play a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction, supporting field retrofits, and delivering reliable solutions in high-stakes environments such as hospitals, data centers, and multi-generator installations. The role offers a combination of fieldwork, remote problem-solving, and occasional travel to client sites, making it both dynamic and impactful.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of commercial or industrial experience with generators, switchgear, and paralleling control systems (Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering may substitute for 4 years of experience)
  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics and Engineer of Record drawings
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, generator controllers, protective relays, alternators, and related equipment
  • Commissioning and field experience highly recommended
  • NFPA 70 ARC Flash certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 45%
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload independently
  • Strong communication skills to provide technical guidance via phone, email, and onsite interactions

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for generators, ATS/switchgear, and paralleling control systems both remotely and onsite
  • Commission complex projects, including PLC-based designs controlling entire distribution systems in large facilities
  • Liaise with engineering teams to resolve field issues, implement changes, and ensure alignment with project scopes
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, retrofit guidelines, and engineering change notices
  • Escalate critical issues promptly to maintain quality and project schedules while minimizing costs
  • Assist in the planning and execution of field retrofit projects and technical initiatives, ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Support operational theory understanding and performance optimization of PowerGen and switchgear products
