Job Description Peterson Cat has a need for a Product Support Senior Data Analyst at our Hillsboro, OR location. SUMMARY The Product Support Senior Data Analyst supports data-driven decision making of Product Support departments within Peterson’s Earthmoving and Power Systems business units by extracting, analyzing, and modeling product support data. This position also develops and maintains reports, dashboards, and predictive analytics; communicates insights and provides actionable recommendations to stakeholders; and maintains internal system documentation and guidelines. As a senior role, this position is also responsible for mentoring and training team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or other closely related field; and a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in data analytics; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must display ability to create and run queries using Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Must display advanced skills in data visualization tools including Power BI and/or Tableau
  • Must display advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Query

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DBS and CAT Machines-Engines Equipment database strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Power Automate skills strongly preferred
  • Ability to code in Python and/or R preferred
  • Microsoft Power BI certification preferred
  • Tableau certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Extract product support data from Caterpillar and internal systems, performing coding as needed, and collaborating with stakeholders to prepare related analysis and reporting.
  • Examine product support data and other relevant information to determine the appropriate method of analysis.
  • Clean, validate, cleanse, analyze, model and perform statistical analysis of product support data.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of reports, analyses, and dashboards, utilizing data visualization software such as Power BI and Tableau as needed.
  • Perform and manage ad hoc analyses to help predict, measure, and interpret business trends, frame optimal ways of identifying relevant insights, and enable decision making.
  • Manage day-to-day system needs, including system updates, integration requirements, maintenance of data tables, troubleshooting code, and general system maintenance.
  • Work closely with various departments to understand the reporting, forecasting, and analytic needs of all end users, from sales representatives to the executive leadership team.
  • Update guidelines, manuals, and other reference materials for internal systems including but not limited to Dealer Business System (DBS).
  • Use Structured Query Language (SQL) regularly to create and run queries.
  • Work to maintain data integrity while performing all job functions.
  • Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, and/or other managerial functions.
  • Provide predictive and prescriptive analytics and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear, value-focused manner.
  • Make recommendations for new metrics to help drive business decisions.
  • Launch projects with internal groups to develop in-house productivity/automation tools.
  • Mentor, train, and support team members including Product Support Data Analysts.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
