Product Supply NPI Professional Location: Building LC in Peoria, IL, with an on-site schedule of five days per week. Travel: Up to 10% Relocation Assistance: Not available Visa Sponsorship: Not Offered Job Summary: Represent and support the Supply Chain Team within the MineStar Product Group. This role will focus on the New Product Introduction (NPI) teams, ensure NPI conformance on procurement and supply chain issues, monitor and report NPI progress, hold NPI & design teams accountable for meeting quality and timeliness of requirements. Role will also assist in managing procurement and supply chain related capital and material readiness for early learner, pilot and field follow builds.

Requirements

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of software applications such as Power Automate, SharePoint and PowerBI or the proven ability to learn new applications. Develop, capture and sustain KPI’ s for the NPI Supply Chain Team.
  • Teamwork: Knowledge of the necessity and value of teamwork; ability to work cooperatively towards shared goals and being supportive of others at all levels. Ability to work with peers to prioritize workload within the group and communicate effectively with suppliers and customers.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Strong knowledge of the product, NPI, Manufacturing, Supply Network, and Category & Facilities Strategies. Experience working on new product introduction programs and understanding the processes.
  • Procurement: Experience in procurement, logistics, manufacturing, and/or engineering.
  • Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience, and skills into real practice.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of WebPD, Item Scout, NPI Process and process mapping tools.
  • Knowledge of engineering bill of material structure and parts authorization process.
  • Experience in managing multiple programs and projects at once and following up to ensure closure.
  • Experience leading internal teams, suppliers, and customers to effective solutions.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles as applied by Caterpillar and our suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Accountability: Understanding product & component strategies, S&OP strategies, corporate NPI process and the business processes necessary to deliver NPI Program commitments. Responsible for the forecasting and management of procurement-related capital and expense items (supplier tooling and packaging), NPI target setting and conformance, and S&OP’s participation in design programs.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership for the NPI activities within S&OP including select sources taken from category strategies & matrices and resource management decisions. Demonstrate leadership in recognizing the potential for cost and inventory reductions and quality improvement, as well as responsibility for the soundness of business proposals and risk assessment. Promote the highest level of professionalism and business ethics.
  • Strategy: Tools and Techniques of 6 Sigma will be required and may be attained by Black Belt, Green Belt, Project Sponsor, or other 6 Sigma-related training programs.
  • Customers: Typical internal customers include contacts at all organization levels, worldwide. The incumbent solves NPI problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The role will identify and satisfy Critical Customer Requirements (CCR), managing Product Teams’ expectations for S&OP to deliver the benefits required to sustain a competitive advantage. The Product Supply NPI Professional works with Product & Component Groups to develop and implement Cost, Quality, and Response Time targets for system teams, and monitors and provides upward and lateral feedback on performance to these targets.
