About The Position

Oversee raw product specifications and inventory requirements. Communicate raw product information. Perform data entry, review, and summarization of raw product food safety and quality assurance information. Create and manage product specifications and labels. Perform assigned duties for Quality Assurance Department. Responsible for ensuring food-safe, high quality products are produced that meet or exceed all regulatory and legal requirements. Assist in maintaining a safe work enviroment for all employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Food Science or Animal Science is preferred.
  • Experience in a Food Processing manufacturing plant required.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Competent knowledge of computer fundamentals including MS Word and Excel
  • Possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to interact with the team in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
  • USDA labeling experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a steak cutting facility preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure overall quality and compliance of case-ready fresh meat to established specifications. Ensure product quality meets customer expectations.
  • Manage specific projects related to product quality, packaging, customer satisfaction, operations, and the plant.
  • Monitor quality performance in efforts to improve overall product experience by integrating with measurement systems and processes; coordinating with internal departments and external sources of information.
  • Identify and communicate to Plant Management and Director of FSQA areas of quality improvement opportunities.
  • Implement identified opportunities to drive costs out of the case-ready systems through improved yields, product handling, packaging, and efficiencies. Monitor improvements and any unintended consequences on overall quality level.
  • Assures necessary specifications exist for case-ready products; coordinates and partners with product development specifications as applicable to ensure appropriate specifications are developed and exist for suppliers.
  • Daily walk the line to ensure cut pattern and cut methods are followed.
  • Obtain USDA label approvals and coordinate use with production facilities. Coordinate label manufacturing with vendors.
  • Participate in special projects and coordinate test kitchen usage and product storage.
  • Maintain finished product, label, ingredient, and packaging materials electronic library. Annually reviews ingredient information provided by suppliers.
  • Performs assigned duties for the QA department.
  • Coordinates activities with Quality Control team at assigned Case Ready facility to maintain and ensure consistent inspection procedures; ensures all inspection data is gathered, analyzed and communicated to the General Manager or Director of FSQA on weekly basis.
  • Provide Raw Product Inspection Training to FPL's system supplier personnel.
  • Adhere to all OSHA regulations and FPL Foods safety related programs.
  • Supervise and/or perform detailed inspections of meat condition, cuts and defects. Record inspection findings.
  • Notify purchasing & plant management personnel of raw product issues. (eg: product defects, product condition, inventory and product rotation needs)
  • Provide relief coverage for the Quality Assurance Department personnel. Provide raw product expertise for special projects.
  • Perform Safety Audits.
  • Assures necessary specifications exist for case-ready products
