About The Position

Pure Storage is looking for a Product Quality Engineer to join our Global Supply Chain Operations Engineering team. In this exciting, multidisciplinary role, you'll play a crucial part throughout our product lifecycle, collaborating with counterparts in Hardware, Test, and Supply Chain to drive continuous improvement and meet product quality KPIs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of expertise in product quality, field quality or manufacturing engineering within a high-tech operations environment.
  • Deep technical knowledge of PCBA, subassembly, and system-level manufacturing and testing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of core quality methodologies, including 8D, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, DFx, DFM, DFA, and PFMEA with the ability to select and apply the right tool for any given challenge.
  • Strong experience in product quality management and supplier management, with deep knowledge of production quality monitoring and failure analysis techniques.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for process improvement, and an ability to use critical thinking and business acumen to solve complex problems and drive results.
  • Proven experience in data-driven decision-making, utilizing dashboards and analytics tools.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successful issue resolution.
  • We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA or Houston, TX office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience working with or for a Contract Manufacturer (CM), preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt), Agile PLM, or Netsuite ERP experience is a plus.
  • Experience with board-level and system-level failure analysis on returned or defective units.
  • 2+ years of relevant debug, validation, or test engineering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Product Quality: Drive product quality from new product introduction (NPI) through to sustaining production, covering everything from PCBA manufacturing to system integration and customer support.
  • Improve Manufacturing & Design: Actively participate in the development of new products, providing critical manufacturing input to design and engineering teams to ensure designs are optimized for production.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis: Coordinate failure analysis with suppliers to determine the root cause of issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Improve manufacturing operations processes and establish quality standards and key performance indicator (KPI) metrics to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Provide Technical Direction: Offer technical expertise to troubleshoot failures, investigate new manufacturing technologies, and assist in value engineering and cost-reduction activities.
  • Ensure Design Excellence: Evaluate and enhance the engineering design verification process to release products with zero design defects into production.
