About the role Job Summary The Product Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that product quality specifications are in compliance with corporate and customer standards. This includes supporting the implementation of QA/QC policies, conducting inspections, and assisting in vendor evaluations. This job profile is intended for support staff that follows established procedures and works under close supervision. Smaller/easier decisions are made autonomously. Department: Component Division Reports to: Quality Manger Company Overview: Sulzer Turbo Services (STS) is an independent provider of services and repairs of critical turbomachinery. We specialize in the repair, overhaul, and replacement of parts for high-speed rotating equipment such as steam and gas turbines, compressors, expanders, and other industrial rotating equipment found primarily in the Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Petrochemical, Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Fertilizer and Power Generation markets. Position Summary The QC/QA Technician ensures that gas turbine components meet all engineering, quality, and customer standards throughout the manufacturing, repair, and inspection process. This role supports both Quality Assurance (process-focused) and Quality Control (inspection-focused) tasks to verify compliance with approved specifications and standards, and support continuous improvements.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of gas turbine components, including blades, vanes, rotors, casings, combustor hardware, and seals.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and inspection equipment.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High school diploma or technical trade school certificate required.
  • 2+ years of experience in precision inspection, aerospace, or turbine component manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and manage small and large components.
  • Use of PPE includes safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rotating equipment or aerospace components.
  • Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
  • Familiarity with coating processes such as thermal barrier coatings or plasma spray.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and borescopes.
  • Conduct detailed visual inspections to identify defects such as cracks, corrosion, wear, foreign object damage (FOD), and coating issues.
  • Perform incoming and final dimensional inspections of components and final assemblies.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and OEM manuals for inspection and verification.
  • Document nonconformities and support root-cause investigations.
  • Help maintain accurate inspection reports, quality records, and traceability documentation.
  • Support process‑focused QA activities to ensure compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.
  • Participate in internal quality audits, corrective actions, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, repair) to resolve quality issues.
