Product Manager

Release RecoveryNew York, NY
$130,000 - $160,000

About The Position

The Opportunity Most product managers inherit someone else's roadmap. You’d be writing ours from scratch. Release Recovery is building a digital platform to transform how addiction and mental health recovery care is delivered — and we’re looking for the person who will turn that vision into a real, thriving product. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to manage a backlog. It’s a role for a builder: someone who gets energy from a blank whiteboard, knows how to turn ambitious ideas into structured, shippable plans, and is thinking about product-market fit, sustainable growth, and long-term platform value from day one. Over the next few years, you’ll take this product from concept to platform. That means doing the hard, unglamorous work of early discovery just as much as the exciting work of shipping features that meaningfully improve people’s lives. You’ll own both. If you’re the kind of PM who finds “the product doesn’t fully exist yet” thrilling rather than terrifying — read on.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in product management, product ownership, or a closely related role
  • Proven experience building and scaling a product from early stage — you've started from scratch (or close to it) before
  • Strong commercial instincts: you think about growth, monetization, and long-term platform value, not just feature lists
  • Exceptional ability to take ambiguous ideas and turn them into organized, prioritized, actionable plans
  • Experience working closely with engineering in agile or iterative development environments
  • Data fluency — comfortable with tools like Amplitude or similar to evaluate performance and guide decisions
  • Clear, confident communication that can align technical teams, clinical operators, and external partners alike
  • Self-directed and highly adaptable — you don't need structure handed to you; you build it
  • Must live in NYC or be willing to relocate

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in health tech, mental health, or mission-driven organizations
  • Familiarity with HIPAA-regulated or privacy-conscious product environments
  • Experience serving both internal users (ops, clinicians) and external end users (students, clients, families)

Responsibilities

  • Build the foundation. Lead end-to-end product discovery and planning across engineering, clinical operations, and partner-facing teams. Define the problems worth solving, the metrics that matter, and the roadmap that gets us there — then execute.
  • Turn ideas into profitable reality. Take early-stage concepts and shape them into well-scoped, prioritized, financially viable product initiatives. Think beyond features to business model, adoption, and long-term scalability.
  • Drive the full development lifecycle. Partner closely with engineering from initial scoping through release — writing clear requirements, making sharp tradeoff decisions, and keeping the team focused on high-impact work.
  • Own adoption, not just launch. Work with customer operations and partners to ensure features are understood, implemented, and actively used. A shipped feature nobody uses isn’t a win.
  • Be the voice of the user. Use analytics, qualitative feedback, and clinical insights to evaluate what’s working and guide iteration. Build a product people actually want — and need.
  • Represent the product externally. Join client and partner calls, demonstrate product workflows, answer feature questions, and bring insights back into discovery and prioritization. Help shape expectations and articulate product value.
  • Stay ahead of the landscape. Monitor industry trends, user needs, and regulatory considerations relevant to healthcare and recovery — and incorporate those insights into strategic planning.

Benefits

  • Joining our team means being part of a mission-driven organization redefining how substance use and mental health are understood and treated. At Release, recovery is about growth, connection, and long-term transformation—and the work you do here directly contributes to that impact.
  • In this role, you will:
  • Work alongside respected thought leaders in the recovery space
  • Make a direct, meaningful impact on individuals and families
  • Help shape product strategy, culture, and execution from the ground up with real ownership
  • Be part of a long-term build, growing with the product from early stages to a scalable platform
  • Receive health, dental, and vision benefits (full-time employees)
