About The Position

SUMMARY Cannon Instrument Company is seeking a Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of our analytical instrumentation portfolio. This role bridges customer needs, market insights, and engineering execution to deliver differentiated customer driven solutions that advance laboratory efficiency, accuracy, and automation worldwide. The Product Manager will define product vision, prioritize roadmaps, and collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, sales, marketing, applications, and operations to ensure successful product launches and sustained market growth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Own the product vision, positioning, and multi-year roadmap for assigned product lines Translate customer needs, regulatory requirements, and market trends into clear product requirements Define value propositions, target segments, and “right to win” for each product Engage directly with customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders to gather voice-of-customer insights Monitor competitive offerings, pricing, and technology trends Ensure products align with industry standards (ASTM, ISO, etc.) and evolving customer workflows Serve as the primary product liaison between R&D, applications, sales, marketing, and operations Partner with engineering to prioritize features, manage tradeoffs, and guide development decisions Support sales and marketing with product training, messaging, and launch materials Lead new product introductions (NPI), from concept through launch and post-launch optimization Manage product updates, line extensions, and end-of-life decisions Track product performance metrics and recommend improvements or portfolio adjustments Develop positioning, key benefits, and competitive differentiation Support pricing strategy and business case development Travel up to 25% (domestic and international) for customer engagement and trade shows. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or masters degree in a science, engineering or business related field with master’s degree in science, engineering or business administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant product management experience, or 5 years of combined experience in sales, marketing and/or product management.
  • Is passionate about product management and being a customer advocate
  • Possesses a blend of business and technical savvy; a vision, and a drive that transforms that vision
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with ability to communicate across multiple levels within the business.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including ability to make impactful presentations up, down and across an organization
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, including prior experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with creative approach
  • Competent computer skills, including e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing and database applications
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in product-related field, preferably Rheology or another lab environment, a plus
  • Ability to oversee all activities across PLC of a product or product family
