About The Position

As a Product Manager at SportsEngine, you will be responsible for translating customer feedback and project objectives into clear technical requirements for software engineers. You’ll also help define and evolve the product roadmap in alignment with leadership’s vision. In this role, you will ensure successful delivery of product initiatives—meeting company goals, deadlines, and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Product Management, Sport Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner in a technology-driven organization
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong judgment in managing priorities, resources, and risk
  • Effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience delivering SaaS projects on time and within budget
  • High proficiency in JIRA (boards, filters, reporting, backlog management)
  • Skilled in Confluence for product documentation and internal communication
  • Comfortable working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, QA, and design teams

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with JIRA
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver results under pressure
  • Strong ability to investigate and learn unfamiliar systems quickly
  • Familiarity or background in the sports management industry
  • Experience in software engineering, technical support, or systems analysis
  • Exposure to customer discovery practices or product analytics tools

Responsibilities

  • Drive Product Outcomes
  • Own the product backlog for a key area of our platform
  • Define clear problems to solve and desired outcomes, not just features to ship
  • Continuously refine priorities by validating customer value while balancing feasibility, viability, and usability.
  • Break large initiatives into incremental releases that enable continuous delivery
  • Lead Continuous Discovery
  • Engage in ongoing discovery with your team to ensure we are solving the right problems
  • Engage directly with customers, stakeholders, and partners to understand unmet needs
  • Validate assumptions before committing significant engineering investment
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions
  • Enable Strong Delivery
  • Write clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to refine solutions and reduce ambiguity
  • Participate in and lead team ceremonies (refinement, planning, demos, retros)
  • Manage scope thoughtfully while protecting long-term product integrity
  • Support smooth release enablement and internal communication
  • Build Alignment & Trust
  • Act as the connective tissue between engineering, design, stakeholders, and go-to-market teams
  • Communicate product strategy, trade-offs, and progress clearly
  • Maintain organized documentation in Confluence
  • Use Jira effectively to manage workflow and transparency
