Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in category management, product management, or strategic marketing within the Marine, Powersports, or comparable technical/consumer‑durable industries, with demonstrated impact on portfolio performance.
  • Deep business and financial acumen, including proficiency in P&L management, demand forecasting, pricing strategy, and ROI assessment.
  • Highly developed analytical and market‑insight capabilities, with a track record of translating consumer, competitive, and category data into actionable strategy and compelling business cases.
  • Exceptional communication and executive‑level influencing skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional alignment, drive decision‑making, and present persuasively to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated success working in complex, matrixed environments, effectively coordinating across Product Development, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to accelerate outcomes.
  • Strong strategic orientation paired with operational excellence, capable of thinking big while ensuring day‑to-day execution is flawless and timely.
  • Proficiency with modern product and portfolio management tools, such as PLM systems, competitive benchmarking frameworks, VOC methodologies, and stage‑gate or agile development processes.
  • Track record of driving innovation, leveraging emerging technologies, materials, manufacturing methods, and customer insights to elevate product differentiation.
  • High‑ownership, high‑initiative mindset, with the resilience, curiosity, and ambition required to consistently outperform expectations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to represent the brand externally, serving as a knowledgeable, credible advocate at industry events, dealer forums, and customer engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Ignite category growth by developing and executing bold strategies for product line expansion, lifecycle management, and market positioning.
  • Take ownership of financial performance, setting ambitious targets and leading the charge to exceed them.
  • Collaborate with the Category Director to craft visionary product and business plans, leveraging deep consumer and market insights.
  • Be a catalyst for innovation—analyzing trends, identifying opportunities, and launching products that set new industry standards.
  • Build powerful partnerships across Sales, Marketing, PD&E, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and beyond, ensuring seamless execution of game-changing initiatives.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring industry developments and emerging technologies, keeping Mercury at the forefront of marine propulsion.
  • Deliver accurate product forecasts through the SIOP process, driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Champion a customer-first mindset, anticipating needs and delivering products that delight and inspire.
  • Represent Mercury at major trade shows and special events, showcasing your leadership and passion for the brand.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter resource on propeller market trends, customer needs, competitive shifts, and emerging technologies.
