About The Position

Join a team that’s transforming mental healthcare. Founded by psychiatrists, Headlight is more than a company: it’s a movement. A movement that exists on the front lines of the mental health crisis, transforming the way people access care and the way clinicians deliver it. In order to help people in their time of need and ensure that every person who comes to us has options, we are transparent about our capabilities, treatments, and coverage, we champion innovation, and we leverage our rich data to continuously implement better ways of delivering care. Our mission is simple but powerful: Improving lives, one session at a time. Our highly skilled and principled clinical team enjoys autonomy and institutional support so they can put their focus where it should be: on improving patient outcomes. Our clinicians want to do more than help individual clients, so they work to affect the system as a whole, elevating standards of care so that their efforts reverberate far beyond what they could do in private practice. As the most trusted behavioral health partner in the Western U.S., we’ve established deep relationships that give us unparalleled access, interoperability, and first-priority referrals. This exclusivity, combined with our best-in-class coordinated care and feedback loops, results in superior outcomes and cost savings. Our services are convenient, accessible, and expert, combining personalized client engagement with advanced technology to enhance, not replace, human connection. Indeed, we hold that human-to-human relationships are indispensable, so from the match to the session to the time between sessions, we provide whole person care so nobody falls through the cracks and there is a brighter path forward for all. We are building a behavioral health practice that scales through technical excellence. As a Product Manager, you will be the product owner for the intricate systems that power our business: from the moment a referral enters our ecosystem to the client billing reconciliation. Your mission is to blend continuous discovery with rigorous delivery, ensuring our internal platforms—billing administration, referral-to-client pipelines, and care APIs—are seamless, efficient, and error-proof. At Headlight, internal systems are one of our products, as they deliver our differentiated experience to our clients. By mastering our billing, referral, and integration layers, you are building the foundation that allows our practice to scale. You aren't just "managing a site"—you are building the infrastructure for the future of integrated behavioral health.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of PM/PO experience, specifically owning Internal Tools, Fintech/Billing, or HealthTech platforms.
  • A proven track record of managing a backlog and moving features through the full SDLC in an agile environment.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with operations-heavy businesses where software must interact with real-world clinical or financial workflows.
  • Architectural Mindset: You love high-complexity problems. You can map out an intricate, multi-step referral process and identify exactly where a bottleneck is costing the company time or money.
  • Technical Rigor: You are comfortable with data integrity, API logic, and complex state changes—such as the lifecycle of a medical claim or referral status.
  • Discovery-to-Delivery Specialist: You excel at dual-track Agile. You can lead a discovery call with a Billing Specialist in the morning and review an engineering PRD for a new API endpoint in the afternoon.
  • Constraint-Aware Innovation: You know how to innovate within the "guardrails" of a live business—considering financial audit trails, regulatory requirements, and clinical workflows.

Responsibilities

  • The Revenue & Referral Engine: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Billing Administration and Referral Management. You are responsible for the high-complexity tools that transition a lead into a patient and a clinical session into a paid claim.
  • Continuous Discovery & Delivery: You won’t build in a vacuum. You will lead ongoing discovery sessions with our clinical and ops teams to validate the viability (compliance/legal) and desirability of every feature before it hits the roadmap.
  • API & Integration: Manage the "connective tissue" of our practice. You’ll own the APIs that sync patient data between our portal, internal systems, and external partners like Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) to enable truly integrated care.
  • AI & Resource Optimization: Identify where AI agents can automate high-volume, nuanced tasks within billing and referral workflows to drive down costs and speed up patient onboarding.
  • Execution within Constraints: You must ship with precision. You’ll navigate the constraints of a fully operating clinical practice, balancing the need for innovation with the absolute requirement for platform stability and HIPAA compliance.
