About The Position

The Product Manager for Locomotive Systems and Components at Progress Rail is responsible for developing and driving a strategic roadmap that coordinates critical business functions such as research, development, engineering, production, and sales. This role aims to meet current and future customer requirements through innovative solutions and effective collaboration across teams.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 10-15 years of experience in the rail market.
  • Experience in product, engineering, project, manufacturing, or lean management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels.

  • Financial acumen from both internal and customer perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive strategic projects and products to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage the product lifecycle process and long-term product strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with government and legal issues affecting the market across all global markets.
  • Participate in a high-performing team to deliver high-level commercial strategy for revenue and profitable growth.
  • Assist the sales team in value selling techniques to present commercial offerings with clear returns.
  • Establish creative proposal concepts and specific incentives for global accounts.
  • Collaborate proactively with Advanced Rail Technology, Aftermarket Services, and Account Managers to align commercial strategy and product development.
  • Target fuel savings, emissions reductions, durability improvements, and reliability initiatives with positive value propositions.
  • Lead collaborative sales workshop sessions.
  • Contribute to competitive analysis and identify gaps and opportunities in the global rail market.
  • Research and understand emerging customer behaviors and technologies impacting the locomotive business.
  • Engage with railroad network operations, transportation, and IT to drive customer value strategies.
  • Coordinate a 5-year aftermarket and services sales forecast.
  • Collect and manage competitive intelligence.
