We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users. As a Product Manager, you will own and drive the reliability of Google's core Information Retrieval systems, which are foundational to our AI-centric future. This horizontal role is critical to operationalizing our reliability strategy, ensuring our systems are dependable for critical clients like Google DeepMind, Search, Ads, Cloud, YouTube, and more. In this role, you will not just be defining what needs to be done, but you will own how we achieve our reliability goals. You will translate strategic business needs into concrete specifications for standard tooling, processes, and best practices. Your work will directly impact the stability, trustworthiness and scalability of services used by billions, and is a once-in-a-career opportunity to bring an AI native approach to system-level reliability. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in technical product management, or a similar role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on large-scale distributed systems, infrastructure, or reliability engineering.
  • Experience defining and tracking metrics and Service-Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Experience as an AI Native product builder, with a strong understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business terms.
  • Ability to collaborate, support and partner effectively with SRE teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define, collect, track, and evolve the key metrics to measure our reliability maturity across all critical customers.
  • Transform the critical client list and risk registry from ad-hoc documents into continuously updated, data-driven product artifacts used for leadership decision-making.
  • Expand and enhance scorecards to cover all key customers.
  • Collaborate with engineering and Technical Program Management teams to define and validate requirements for standardized, reliable ways to build and operate IR systems.
  • Advocate and drive the application of AI/ML to proactively enhance system reliability, including agentic capabilities for automated root-cause analysis and mitigation strategies.
