Your Role The Product Line Purchasing Manager is located at our Troy, MI HQ. This position will mainly support our growth through “Mega Quotes” considering the entire APTIV Product-Portfolio. Support our NA Manufacturing footprint through Supplier selection/management and influence SCM Strategy Development to meet the needs of the all product lines involved while adhering to all corporate, divisional, and SCM policies and procedure. Business Case Requirements of the product line cross APTIV Assure on-going operational excellence of purchased material within product line for the life of the program (quality & delivery) Assure execution of supplier assessment and drive supplier development activities in support of the product line needs and global category strategies and direction Attain Volume Business Case Requirements of the product line cross APTIV Support the product line Growth Strategy Ensure program profitability by supporting customer quoting process and acting as material champion in support of winning new business (cost modeling, cost profit planning and benchmarking) Execute GSM Product Development Process program management to meet flawless launch objectives (Quality, Operating Income & Revenue) Manage sourcing and contract execution for product line buyers Attain Cost Business Case Requirements of the product line Meet price to price commitments, material % of sales, dept. operating budget Meet operational efficiency improvement objectives; support supplier negotiations Drive GSM Strategy Development to meet the needs of the product line Participate in category planning and execution representing PBU/PL needs Provide feedback to Category Manager to adjust/update Category Strategies to align with dynamic business and financial metrics (including localization & minority spend requirement) Participate in strategy approvals (2.1 and 2.4) and drive resolution of issues related to strategy Support Manufacturing footprint through Supplier Rotation. Supplier Optimization, and Localization Enforce all corporate, divisional, and GSM policies and procedures Attain lowest upfront cost/ideal value stream performance targets by engaging Engineering, Manufacturing and suppliers Drive development of strategic suppliers by product line with PBU in collaboration with cross functional team.

Requirements

  • Management experience (8y+) in Purchasing or Engineering, specifically within the automotive industry
  • Valid U.S. Passport with ability to travel domestically, as well as, internationally
  • degree (Bachelor or higher) in industrial, electrical/mechanical engineering
  • Local resident of Metro Detroit area with ability to work on campus

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Program Line Purchasing Leaders, act as escalation point for PLPL’s, assign targets In line with business needs and ensure targets are being met.
  • Report out and lead presentations to top leadership.
  • Drive accountability and ownership of PLPLs.
  • Lead Supplier selection including the RFQ process, supplier evaluation and communication as well as key participation in sourcing decisions.
  • Manage global procurement activities for the Global Product Line across all customer projects worldwide.
  • Responsible for the change management process for Procurement as well as project planning.
  • Represent the SCM team when working across the functions (Sales, Engineering etc.) and lead technical supplier discussions.
  • Act as the central interface between the Global Product Line and central SCM team (material field related purchasing, quality functions).
  • Lead and represent SCM in global reviews with the Senior Management Team
  • Deliver committed material performance for projects globally.
  • Drive Categories to deliver on P2P and Engineering to deliver on Design Cost Saving Initiatives
  • Support the business in research and use of new technology suppliers.
  • Manage global SCM financial Risk& Opportunity Tracker.
