About The Position

The Product Line Manager II at Columbia Sportswear is responsible for meeting the unique product needs of outdoor consumers by driving the creation of market-right and brand-right product lines. This role involves collaborating with other merchant managers to establish vision and strategies for a portion of the global business, constructing long-term business plans, and providing clear product direction to the design team. The position requires effective communication and leadership skills to inspire and guide cross-functional teams in the product creation process.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of product line management, buying, or equivalent sales experience within the outdoor athletic segment.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation abilities.
  • Effective at working with internal and external contacts on a domestic and international scope.
  • Organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead and influence others.

Responsibilities

  • Create and present seasonal product briefs that inspire design and development.
  • Incorporate marketplace influences and consumer insights into product briefs.
  • Seek input from Design, Development, Sales, and Dealers to ensure alignment with brand strategies.
  • Act as a team leader to foster a collaborative working environment among product creation teams.
  • Resolve process issues and recommend improvements for team interactions and process efficiencies.
  • Present category strategy, prototype concepts, designs, and products to key retailers and senior management.
  • Attend sales meetings and marketplace visits to present assigned category product lines to the sales force and key dealers.
  • Define and prepare sales tools and communication materials, ensuring accuracy in the PDM system throughout the creation process.
  • Manage the product creation process to ensure key milestones are achieved and products meet customer needs worldwide.
  • Ensure seamless interaction to deliver a product line that meets design, development, manufacturing, market needs, margin goals, and timelines.
