About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Responsibilities across all phases of assigned engineering projects to ensure the objectives of quality, time, and cost are met. Prepares project schedules and reviews cost estimates, compiles required cost and equipment information, and writes appropriation requests. Responsible for effective communication of engineering information among team members. Follows the structure of the Pella Project Management, Safety, Continuous Improvement and Quality Systems throughout project execution. Investigates problems and requirements of projects and develops plans for solutions in line with economic, personnel, and environmental considerations.

Requirements

  • Entry level; 1-3 years combined engineering experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Math, or relevant Science or combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the “Pella Total Competitiveness System” through projects associated with growth, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Develops / owns / coordinates SID (Synergy Item Database) and PIT (Part Information Tracking) data.
  • Works with supply management, product management, process design, product design and plant teams to determine material inventory attributes such as lineal lengths, number of lengths, make vs. buy, lead time analysis, vertical paint vs. SUP (Single Unit Paint cell), pan sizes, usage by ORG (Organizations), etc.
  • Partners with supply management to monitor acquisition of new parts to match the needs of project timelines.
  • Responsible for BOM updates within Oracle, including updating flat BOMs and setting up systems CO’s for implementation of configurator changes.
  • Able to make IT Configurator changes (preferred, not required).
  • Generates the Master BOM by understanding the product changes, interpreting engineering print structure, translating to the flat BOM format, and generates pick rules for IT to use.
  • Works with Product Drafting, Product Engineers and Process Engineering.
  • Point person to answer questions from IT and leads engineering efforts during system integration testing.
  • Create and maintain tools to assist in checking orders during integration testing.
  • Develops obsolescence parts list and tracks inventory levels during projects to reduce costs associated with obsolete scrap.
  • Works with the project team, supply management, and plant stockrooms to minimize and control inventory throughout the project phase.
  • Works with product management to identify service items to understand future inventory needs.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve information related processes and plays an active role in driving process changes that improve efficiency.
  • Leads and/or participates in project related events.
  • Develops project estimates for time, cost, and quality.
  • Submits and tracks RFQs (Request for Quotes) through Supply Management and reports information back to engineers.
  • Validates BOM of existing products.
  • Submit test reports and certification drawings and applications WDMA, NFRC, TDI and FPAS.
  • Assist with the creation of drawing packs.
  • Updates and maintains certification tables used to generate label information.
  • Verifies this information during the implementation phase of a project.
  • Manages certification expiration information with engineering guidance.
  • Works with Product Management and drafting to set-up the Service Parts Plan and associated documentation mark-ups.
  • Owns service parts catalog information transfer.
  • Creates and modifies installation instructions.
  • Delivers necessary product descriptions, performance information and cross sections to the ADM (Architectural Design Manual) team.
