About The Position

This position will lead Malibu’s team of engineers, and drafters in the design of new products and models for Malibu and Axis.

Requirements

  • BSME, or related degree from ABET accredited University required
  • Minimum 7 yrs experience in mechanical engineering and product development required
  • Minimum 7 yrs experience in SolidWorks, NX, or other parametric 3D CAD required
  • Experience in manufacturing environment required
  • Familiarity with production of components requiring injection molding, casting, CNC milling operation required
  • Familiarity with production of components requiring tool handling and material preparation required
  • Must be task oriented and have strong time management skills to keep projects on schedule
  • Must be able to make data driven decisions
  • Must have a proven ability to lead teams and large capital projects
  • Must be proficient at performing cost benefit analysis to projects
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to use MS Office and CAD Systems
  • Proven ability to lead Kaizen events

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Surface modeling, NX, and AutoCAD preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assign, direct, and evaluate product engineers’ work, balancing responsibilities and effectively reporting out on the status of projects and at-risk projects; including, but not limited to interior and exterior components, electrical systems, and other mechanical systems
  • Oversee development and maintenance of technical drawings for new and existing mechanical designs
  • Hold product engineers’ accountable for deadlines, meeting project scopes, and budgets
  • Oversee product engineering teams’ project spending
  • Regularly contribute new ideas or solutions to problems that arise during new projects
  • Ensure product engineering team supports production as needed, coordinating support, and communicating key details across multiple departments
  • Work with product integration manager, procurement team, and engineers to identify new parts needed for new models and model year changes
  • Assist in development of new product, new model development, and roadmap
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for product and component improvements
  • Support the Engineering Change Management System (ECR’s/ECN’s)
  • Support Project Integration Manager in ensuring engineering team meets deliverables and specifications
  • Support the management and validation of new model and new product cost impact and BOM’s
  • Participate in new model and new product design reviews
  • Support the Product engineering team’s successful cross departmental collaboration and project integration on new product designs
  • Assist in development of capital requests for new product funding
  • Participate in quality audits, warranty trend reviews, production startup meetings, and continuous improvement events
  • Use engineering and computer design software, specifically NX, Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Rhino.
  • Regularly Investigates system/product weaknesses to continuously improve and prevent further issues.
  • Regularly specifies system components necessary to ensure proper functionality of a product.
  • Works daily to manage and coordinate multiple projects, keeping them on time and on target.
  • Works daily with outside vendors/suppliers to provide feedback for product design, areas of improvement, and testing results.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
