About The Position

This position will lower the cost component of manufacturing by leading, planning, directing, and coordinating process improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and efficiency, while supporting operations in all areas of boat manufacturing. This position will also lead a portion of the process engineering team by planning, directing, and coordinating process improvement projects in all areas of boat manufacturing.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering; 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to use MS Office and CAD Systems
  • Proven ability to lead Kaizen events

Responsibilities

  • Assign, direct, and evaluate process engineering interns, technicians, and some engineers’ work, balancing responsibilities and effectively reporting out on the status of projects, deadlines, and budgets.
  • Evaluate and revise processes to generate cost savings and improve safety, equipment reliability, product quality, and throughput efficiency.
  • Design, evaluate, and improve process flow throughout manufacturing
  • Research, develop, and implement new processes, equipment, and procedures for manufacturing
  • Develop, justify, and implement capital expenditure projects from concept to completion
  • Document and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, and time observations of production processes
  • Lead and mentor production supervisors and employees to solve quality issues and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement Events (Kaizen Events)
  • Participate in quality audits and production startup meetings
  • Participate in design reviews to improve product manufacturability
  • Other duties may be assigned.
