About The Position

This role is for EtherWAN (a Phoenix Contact Company). All interns will be hired by Kelly Services. Internship Summary Are you looking for an internship that provides real life experience? EtherWAN is looking for a Product Engineering Intern. Our summer interns work full time. Due to the nature of our internships, we would like this intern to continue into Fall 2026 (part time) and Spring 2027 (part time). What does a typical day look like? No day will be the same from the previous day! As an integral part of the team and the business, you will be doing many tasks that require you to be motivated and resourceful, with guidance, including - firmware and device testing, debugging device configurations, testing device mounting hardware, writing scripts to help automate device configurations, refurbishing training kits, documentation maintenance, hardware prototype testing What makes this internship unique? This is a very unique internship in that you will get real world experience where your accomplishments have direct impact on the business. An example could be a revision that you made to product documentation which resulted in customers understanding how to install the product easier, which led to customer support calls being reduced. Another could be a script that you wrote which helped automate the configuration process for our products, which leads to increased customer satisfaction

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in a college/university
  • Electrical or network engineering major preferred, mechanical engineering is acceptable
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts, hands-on experience with Windows/Linux command-line environments, hands-on experience with basic scripting (python), projects involving hardware integration, interest in hardware development, hands-on experience testing or installing equipment such as building a PC
  • Must be self motivated and take ownership of the assigned project to take it from start to finish
  • Look at a computer screen for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours)
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time (2-4 hours at a time)
  • Commute to Irvine, CA office
  • Ontime and regular attendance
