About The Position

Coreshell's metallurgical Silicon anode technology delivers high capacity, fast-charging, and superior safety. Our low-cost liquid-phase nano-coating addresses critical electrode-surface degradation issues and enables batteries with a Silicon-dominant anode that have higher energy density, superior intrinsic thermal safety, and significantly lower cost/kWh compared to current LIBs. Our Si anode material is lower than the cost of graphite and 100% domestically sourced. We strive to transform the global automotive market by enabling low-cost and long-range EVs as a first step towards net-zero sustainability in the near future. Core Responsibilities: We are seeking a Product Engineer to drive new product introduction (NPI) by owning both the engineering definition and hands-on execution required to mature battery technology from concept to manufacturable commercial offerings. This role is deeply involved in the physical realization of products that meet customer requirements, including assembling prototypes, developing test protocols, executing validation tests, and generating the data needed for robust specifications. The Product Engineer will work directly with materials, cells, modules, and contract manufacturers, serving as both the technical architect and the primary experimental operator to rapidly iterate designs, reduce risk, and accelerate time-to-market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in battery systems, energy storage, or related electro-mechanical product development
  • Demonstrated experience leading NPI from concept through prototype and into early production
  • Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery performance, safety, and degradation mechanisms
  • Experience defining and interpreting test plans and validation data using standard battery cycling equipment
  • Ability to work hands-on with hardware while maintaining system-level engineering ownership
  • Familiarity with battery standards and compliance testing (UL, IEC, UN38.3, SAE, etc.)
  • Experience with modeling tools for battery performance, lifetime, or cost (e.g., PyBaMM, AVL or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Define test strategies, write and execute detailed test protocols and procedures for customer-relevant performance, safety, reliability, and cost validation
  • Specify instrumentation, test conditions, pass/fail criteria, and data requirements
  • Review and interpret test results, identifying trends, risks, and design gaps
  • Assemble battery cells, modules, and packs for prototype and pilot builds as needed, including fabricating or sourcing fixtures, instrumentation, and test articles required for validation
  • Identify and resolve assembly, handling, and repeatability challenges during early builds
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to refine specifications, optimize design assumptions, and lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations
  • Drive engineering changes informed by empirical data, cell build feedback, and manufacturability insights
  • Work directly with contract manufacturers on prototype and pilot builds, resolving design and process issues to support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-cost efforts by evaluating yield, process capability, and cost drivers
  • Develop build instructions, BOMs, and acceptance criteria to support repeatable prototype builds
  • Develop, implement, and update performance, lifetime, and cost models based on experimental results
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation to support prototype-to-product maturation
