About The Position

Demonstrate expertise in steering wheel, driver, curtain, side, passenger and Knee airbag systems – “best practice” designs, legal validation requirements, North American customer standards, current industry trends, and our competitors’ technology. Lead the design, validation, and release of steering wheel and airbag systems using the YF product development process. Ensures documents, processes and procedures are managed and maintained using all YFSS standards and systems (YFiOS, PMP, Lean, CPP, CMP, EPIC, BEP, etc.) Understand the YF customers’ engineering organization and build relationships with the key engineering and technology “decision makers”. Inform customer engineering and YF leadership of significant launch, production or timing related issues (“no surprises”). Be the single point of customer contact on your programs. Work with Program Management to ensure engineering resources and budget goals are met from award through SOP. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Any and all other duties as assigned by your Manager. Education: Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s Degree Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace or similar) Chinese and/ or Spanish language skills helpful, but not required PMP training or Program Management experience desired Work Experience and Skills Required: 3-5+ years’ experience in the automotive industry, including at least two successful product launches – preferably with North American OEMs. Experience in steering wheel and/or airbag modules required. Experience with Curtain Airbag preferred. Experience leading programs and teams with full engineering responsibility. Airbag module testing and performance analysis experience. Knowledge of plastic part design for injection molding. Knowledge of Injection Mold Tooling (gates, parting lines, action, etc.) as it relates to part design. Plastic resin and materials selection knowledge as related to airbag modules and steering wheel components. Ability to develop component and sub-assembly GD&T tolerancing and tolerance stack-up studies in support of manufacturing & craftsmanship goals. Knowledge of leather- and PUR wrapping processes and design limitations for steering wheels and driver airbags. Experience using CAE as a design and product optimization tool. Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner in a team environment. Identify and address issues in a direct, “data driven” manner. Self-motivated and enthusiastic; “coaching” style. Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Chinese and/ or Spanish language skills helpful, but not required
  • PMP training or Program Management experience desired
