About The Position

Join Southern California’s largest and fastest-growing commercial seating manufacturer and help engineer award-winning, highly ergonomic, best-value furniture that ships at scale. This role is for a proven product engineer someone who has repeatedly taken complex products from concept to production, navigated real constraints (cost, tooling, validation), and delivered results. You will own engineering execution while collaborating closely with Industrial Design, Manufacturing, and suppliers to bring differentiated products to market quickly and reliably. We are hiring for performance, accountability, and craftsmanship, not maintenance. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite work three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of hands-on mechanical product development experience, delivering products from concept through production and launch
  • 3+ years proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software, demonstrated through hands-on professional use producing production-released 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs (skills may be assessed)
  • Demonstrated experience designing plastic injection-molded components, including tooling and DFM considerations
  • Experience executing design verification and validation testing, including test planning and documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Use of AI-assisted or automation tools to improve engineering design or documentation efficiency
  • Experience with commercial seating or comparable multi-component mechanical products, including working knowledge of ANSI/BIFMA or similar standards
  • Hands-on experience working with suppliers, tooling, prototyping, and production ramp-up
  • Experience designing with multiple materials and applying ergonomics and anthropometry
  • Experience with modular, configurable, or knock-down product architectures
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), PDM systems, and simulation/FEA tools
  • Familiarity with DFM/DFA, PPAP, Six Sigma, Poka-Yoke, and ISTA or packaging optimization

Responsibilities

  • Develop families of highly configurable commercial seating products from design concept through released drawings and qualified production parts
  • Own mechanical architecture, part design, tolerance strategy, and DFM/DFA execution
  • Partner with Industrial Design while owning engineering feasibility, risk management, and execution
  • Create and release complete 3D/2D CAD design packages, BOMs, and product configurations
  • Plan and execute design verification and validation testing, including durability, load, and abuse testing
  • Design and validate products to ANSI/BIFMA commercial seating standards and related requirements
  • Coordinate with internal and external test labs; author clear test plans and reports
  • Work directly with suppliers on prototyping, tooling, manufacturability, and cost optimization
  • Support pilot builds, production ramp, and post-launch issue resolution
  • Conduct product teardowns and competitive analysis to inform design decisions
  • Contribute to cross-functional project planning, schedules, and financial targets
  • Explore, recommend, and leverage emerging tools (including AI-assisted workflows) to improve engineering efficiency
  • Occasional supplier and factory support visits
