Responsible for driving product development initiatives, overseeing design enhancements, prototype assessments, and rigorous validation processes. Demands advanced technical expertise and the capacity to juggle multiple projects while upholding industry and internal compliance standards. Works collaboratively with sourcing, quality, and category teams to deliver innovative, cost-efficient, and high-performing products that satisfy both customer expectations and regulatory guidelines. Oversees private brand engineering projects by developing product specifications and designs, collaborating with cross‑functional partners to define requirements, and resolving performance issues.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
  • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues.
  • Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.
  • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
  • Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certification is required in some areas.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industry compliance standards (UL, CSA, ASTM).
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and document control practices.
  • Experience with OEM suppliers and vertically integrated manufacturers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years of product development experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and costing software (e.g., Boothroyd Dewhurst DFM/DFMA).

Responsibilities

  • Participates in engineering project management including PRD development and protocol creation.
  • Conducts financial and value-based calculations.
  • Prepare presentation-quality summaries.
  • Resolves product performance concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Performs detailed evaluations of components and assemblies, utilizing Bills of Materials and internal resources to determine overall costs.
  • Participates in product design and redesign activities from concept to launch.
  • Conducts prototype and validation testing against approved protocols.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure compliance and performance targets.
  • Maintains schedules and budgets for assigned projects; report progress to management.
  • Researches new materials, processes, and technologies to improve product performance.
  • Prepares technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides general engineering guidance to support business goals.
