About The Position

The Product Development Technician is responsible for developing and executing new product constructions and composite test plans. The Product Development Technician works within an AS9100 continuous improvement quality culture. This position is onsite in Coventry, Rhode Island.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in developing and executing design of experiments and sample test plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective team player, with good critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding progress and potential issues.
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Degree or Technical certificate in a related field from an accredited institution preferred.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience working in a laboratory environment required.
  • Working knowledge of materials processing and testing equipment required.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office: Word and Excel.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs., and to team lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform prolonged kneeling, squatting, sitting, crawling, and climbing stairs, ladders and work stands
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during the entire duration of shift
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and crouch as required for tasks
  • Good vision, including the ability to focus on small details and identify defects

Nice To Haves

  • General working knowledge of Military and ASTM Specification preferred.
  • Previous experience in QMS environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Building new products of various composites, textiles, coatings, foams, and additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Evaluating new products and raw materials daily.
  • Developing and documenting new process conditions, test results, and other data.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean work area with FOD free objective.
  • Assisting with controlling raw material and consumables inventories.
  • Surveilling processes and work environment for operational, safety, regulations along with policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of sound experimental design practices.
  • Continuously improving new process and product variation.
  • Other tasks as related and requested i.e. Conduct Quality & Safety audits and inspections; Execute trial plans; Develop and document SOP’s and WI’s.
