This position exercises discretion and independent judgment in planning and executing pilot and kettle batch production, analyzing results, and providing technical recommendations. The role supports product development initiatives under the general direction of a Food Technologist.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Science, or a closely related scientific discipline is required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Product Development
  • Advanced understanding of food science principles and product development methodologies
  • Ability to interpret analytical data and apply findings to process and formulation decisions
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing operations and thermal processing fundamentals
  • Strong documentation, technical writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Professional judgment in a laboratory, pilot, and manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan, organize, and execute kettle batch and pilot-scale production activities using established scientific principles.
  • Apply food science knowledge to evaluate products, process parameters, and analytical results.
  • Analyze observations and data to make technical recommendations to the Product Development team.
  • Exercise professional judgment in identifying process deviations, quality concerns, and improvement opportunities.
  • Safely operate specialized lab and pilot equipment required for batch execution.
  • Use appropriate analytical tools and methods to support product development activities.
  • Utilize enterprise and project management systems (SL, Excel, Word, Monday.com) to document and communicate results.
  • Coordinate activities with cross-functional partners, including Quality, Operations, Business Development, and Engineering.
  • Maintain ingredient inventories and workspaces in accordance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support during plant trials and single-batch executions as business needs require.
