Product Development & Engineering Interns - Summer 2026
About The Position
We’re looking for two motivated interns to join our Product Development & Engineering team this summer, with a distinct background in Textile Engineering/Materials Science or in Engineering/Business/Sports Marketing. These roles will support the design, development, testing, and launch of innovative sports equipment and accessories. Interns must be enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree and must be able to work in-person at the JR286 HQ in Torrance, CA for 10 weeks. This is a paid internship. Materials / Textile Engineering Intern Ideal Background: Majoring in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, Laminate Materials, or similar major Prior hands-on experience with textiles, fabrics, laminates, or performance materials is a plus What You’ll Do: Assist with material research, testing, and evaluation Support prototype development and iteration Analyze material performance, durability, and construction methods Collaborate with engineering and product teams on design improvements Help document specs, test results, and development processes What We’re Looking For: Strong interest in materials, textiles, and product construction Detail-oriented with a hands-on mindset Comfortable working in a development or lab-style environment Curious, analytical, and eager to learn Product Development / Engineering Intern Ideal Background: Majoring in Engineering (strongly preferred), Business, Sports Marketing, or similar major Interest in product development, engineering, or innovation Football, baseball, softball, and/or basketball background (playing, coaching, or deep product knowledge strongly preferred) Equipment manager or student athlete experience is a plus What You’ll Do: Support product development from concept through testing Assist with athlete feedback, market research, and competitive analysis Collaborate across product development and engineering teams Help organize testing sessions and product evaluations Contribute to development timelines, documentation, and presentations What We’re Looking For: Passion for sports and sports-related products Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to bridge technical development with user and market needs Self-starter who’s comfortable wearing multiple hats Why You’ll Love This Internship: Hands-on experience in real-world product development Exposure to both technical and business sides of innovation Opportunity to work with a collaborative, fast-paced team Direct impact on products from early development to launch
