About the job The Engineering Intern will support improving and testing products that fill a niche in the market and allow Alfa Laval to remain competitive. The role provides exposure to R&D processes, production development, and product validation activities, with emphasis on supporting documented engineering practices and the commercialization of new configurations. This is a role based in Broken Arrow, OK.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) required.
  • Interest in product design, thermal/fluid systems, or mechanical systems.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and an expert communicator
  • Ability to work with engineering data, perform basic calculations, and follow documented procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or similar) beneficial.
  • Experience with Excel or data processing tools preferred.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn new tools and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Support efforts to improve engineering documentation, calculation templates, and deliverables for internal and customer-facing use.
  • Assist in organizing, refining, and standardizing technical documents to enable automation and repeatability within engineering systems.
  • Participate in data collection and testing activities on prototype and production units to validate thermal and mechanical performance assumptions.
  • Assist with compiling, processing, and interpreting test results and preparing summary reports.
  • Contribute to development of new component or sub-assembly models used in product configurations and costing studies.
  • Support the development of material and labor cost estimates to inform future pricing and product strategies.
  • Takes direction from the R&D Manager and/or Production Development Engineer.
  • Works closely with engineering, production, and test personnel to support development activities and gain exposure to cross-functional processes.
  • Receives guidance on technical direction and priorities but is expected to organize assigned tasks and communicate status proactively.
  • Timely and accurate completion of assigned documentation, testing, and modeling tasks.
  • Quality and clarity of data, reports, and technical communication supporting R&D decision-making.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn engineering tools, product fundamentals, and company procedures.
  • Contribution to improving efficiency, organization, or standardization of engineering outputs.
