What You’ll Be Doing: As a Mechanical Engineer Intern in Product Development, you will provide engineering support on various Hunter Controller projects at different stages of the new-product-development cycle, as well as sustaining support on mature product lines. This will include contributing to the mechanical design of enclosures used for electronics packaging. You will also work closely with Electrical Engineering to define mechanical constraints for new PCB layouts. You will participate in team design reviews and collaborate to develop solutions to current problem states, and in the first article sample qualification process to validate designs and manufacturing processes. You will gain experience working with engineering, R&D, manufacturing, and production teams. Utilizing 3D CAD, you will produce designs and participate in hands-on problem solving to analyze manufacturing challenges. You will utilize engineering documentation control best practices to execute engineering change orders, releasing their changes to production parts, directly affecting production of finished goods for customers. What You’ll Learn: While receiving support from various disciplines for direction, participating in team meetings to review work, and being trained on Hunter products, you will learn: Engineering fundamentals CAD using both SolidWorks and PTC Creo Product Data Management (PDM, ECOs, MCOs, BOM) Design for plastic injection molding Design for sheet metal forming Design for manufacturing (DFM) Process Capability and Process Performance (PPK, PP, CPK, and CP) Rapid Prototyping using MJF, SLA, and FDM 3D printing technologies
