About The Position

The Product Development & Design Intern will support the end-to-end development of apparel and accessory products, with a primary focus on research, documentation, and process support for future seasons. This role offers hands-on exposure to performance and activewear product creation from concept through production and provides opportunities to gain experience across multiple functions including design, sourcing, and production logistics. This internship is designed to provide meaningful project ownership and real-world insight into the product development lifecycle within a growing lifestyle brand. Development Opportunities Hands-on experience across multiple aspects of apparel and accessory product development. Exposure to seasonal planning, accessory development, and internal process building. Mentorship from the JUNK Brands Director of Product Development & Design. Ownership of a structured internship project with measurable business impact. Opportunity to present work to cross-functional and leadership stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with tech packs or product documentation is a plus.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in apparel product development and/or sourcing.
  • Familiarity with performance or active wear is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute across the full product development lifecycle.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fashion, Product Development, Merchandising, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrates interest in apparel, lifestyle products, or brand development.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 80% of the day and occasionally reach, bend and move inside the office to access files and product.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks and operate other office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner.
  • Ability to move 10-20lbs occasionally throughout day.
  • Able to hear a telephone ring.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct competitive and market research across apparel and accessories to inform future seasons product planning.
  • Support the creation and updating of tech packs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and sample documentation.
  • Assist with fabric, trim, and color research and organization.
  • Maintain and improve development timelines, sample trackers, and vendor documentation.
  • Prepare presentation materials for internal and leadership reviews.
  • Support cross-functional documentation and handoffs between teams.
  • Collaborate with team members and take ownership of assigned research and documentation projects.
  • Assist with internal process improvement initiatives where applicable.
