In this position… You will support Ford Engineering efforts to improve Engineering Bill of Material (BOM) processes and data integration to enable best-in-class industrialization. Working closely with cross-functional teams and under the direction of the PD Data and Enterprise Integration Supervisor, you’ll help identify gaps, document opportunities, and contribute to the development of improved processes, roles/responsibilities, and tool strategies including opportunities for automation and AI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience supporting hardware engineering, product development, or industrialization activities
  • Experience with defining BOM
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (ability to document clearly and present effectively)
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and supporting process improvement efforts
  • Familiarity with industrialization concepts and methods used in automotive or related industries
  • Strong presentation and Excel capability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with BOM structures, part release workflows, and product data management concepts
  • Experience building process maps, conducting workflow analysis, or supporting value stream mapping
  • Exposure to automation, analytics, or AI-enabled process improvement (even at a pilot/learning level)
  • Comfort working with engineering data, spreadsheets, dashboards, or reporting tools
  • Ford legacy BOM tools (FEDEBOM, WERS, CMMS3, etc.)
  • 3DX/Catia
  • Experience process mapping and or value stream mapping

Responsibilities

  • Support benchmarking of Ford and industry-standard Engineering BOM and release processes
  • Gather and document current-state workflows, pain points, gaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Assist in defining “ideal state” Engineering BOM processes with cross-functional partners
  • Prepare materials for workshops (process maps, data, examples) and help capture outcomes and action items
  • Contribute to analysis of current vs. future state roles/responsibilities (Rs&Rs), processes, and enabling tools
  • Help explore expanded use of automation and AI to improve BOM quality, consistency, and efficiency
  • Support communication and alignment across Engineering teams by developing summaries, updates, and visuals
  • Assist with Synergy / Value Stream Mapping initiatives through data collection, analysis, and documentation
  • Track open issues, decisions, and follow-ups to help keep initiatives moving forward
