About The Position

A Product Developer manages the process of turning designs into functional helmets, boots, goggles, and body protection that meet the cost and features prescribed in the brief provided by PLM team. They will work alongside designers and factory partners to maintain timelines provided for an on-time product launch. Product Developers are also responsible for ideating, prototyping, and developing test methods for R&D initiatives. Having consumer industry or Outdoor industry experience is a plus!

Requirements

BS Mechanical Engineering or similar degree or 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Proficient in CAD modeling (SolidWorks or Fusion360)
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator
Excellent communication skills
Team player

Nice To Haves

Having consumer industry or Outdoor industry experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

Demonstrate an understanding of the development process, create tech packs, work directly with vendors with limited supervision
Demonstrate an understanding of basic product construction, materials, and manufacturing techniques. Develop an understanding of complex product construction, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
Manage fittings & fit comments throughout the development process
Implement improvements to designs for performance, fit and function
Create development reviews for vendors, this includes identifying changes, next steps, sizing, etc.
Ensure product costs hit targets provided by PLMs
Create and maintain product creation calendar for assigned projects.
Collaborate with Designer and PLM to create in-depth market research to determine market needs and demands
Research new materials, components, trims and manufacturing techniques. Design and test prototypes to validate.
Create and maintain product documentation such as CBD, BOM, size charts, tooling files, DFM, mold analysis, test reports, etc.
Strong project management skills along with excellent problem-solving skills.
Overseas travel to current factories to work on projects
