Product Designer

Fluidstack
$150,000 - $250,000

About The Position

Fluidstack is looking for a Product Designer who can own the end-to-end design of our products, both internal and external, from the first sketch to the last pixel shipped. This is a hands-on IC role, not a design strategy or oversight position. You will be the designer embedded with our product and engineering teams, shaping the interfaces that GPU cluster operators, AI platform engineers, and enterprise infrastructure teams interact with every day. Our products are deeply technical and our developers and team members are power users, they are engineers and operators who work in terminals, read documentation compulsively, and have zero tolerance for UX that wastes their time. Designing for them requires genuine fluency in developer tools, infrastructure dashboards, and complex, data-dense interfaces. You need to know what great looks like in this space and be able to build it yourself. You will work directly with PMs and engineers, as well as our customers, own design end-to-end for your product areas, and bring a strong visual sensibility that elevates everything you touch. If you have been waiting for a role where you can do your best work on genuinely hard UX problems, this is it.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating shipped work on complex, data-dense, or developer-facing products.
  • Demonstrated history of designing developer tools, infrastructure UIs, API management consoles, observability dashboards, or other technically complex interfaces.
  • Fluency with modern design tooling (Figma required) and the ability to build high-fidelity, interactive prototypes.
  • Expert-level CSS: you write it from scratch, debug it in production, and deeply understand the cascade, specificity, and layout models (Flexbox, Grid) at a mechanical level.
  • Strong front-end web proficiency: HTML, component-based frameworks (React or equivalent), and a working understanding of how browsers render and how design decisions affect performance.
  • End-to-end ownership mindset: you have personally taken designs from concept to production, not just handed off to engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication: you can explain design decisions to engineers and PMs without deck support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing tools for physical infrastructure (construction, logistics, physical operations), cloud infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS), or AI platforms, or a deep familiarity with this user base.
  • Prior experience building or contributing to a design system from the ground up, including token architecture, documentation, and cross-team adoption.
  • Comfort working directly in code: modifying React components, prototyping in CSS, or collaborating on front-end implementation in a shared codebase.
  • History of sourcing and running user research with technical stakeholders: SREs, ML engineers, DevOps leads, or platform engineers.
  • Familiarity with the visual language of technical products: terminal aesthetics, information density, dark mode UX, monospace typography, dashboarding, and a thoughtful perspective on when to embrace vs. evolve it.

Responsibilities

  • Own design end-to-end across research, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and shipped production UI.
  • Design developer-facing products: cluster management dashboards, API consoles, job scheduling interfaces, resource utilization views, and alerting and observability surfaces.
  • Write and maintain production-quality CSS and front-end markup in close collaboration with engineering, ensuring that what ships matches what was designed.
  • Build and maintain a coherent design system: components and interaction patterns that scale across a growing product surface area.
  • Conduct lightweight user research with technical audiences: structured interviews, usability sessions, and synthesis of feedback from customer interactions and support escalations.
  • Work directly with PMs to translate product requirements into interaction models, and with engineers to translate designs into implementation-ready specs.
  • Bring a strong visual point of view: typography, color, hierarchy, motion, and defend it. We want someone who can articulate why a design is right, not just present options.
  • Raise the overall design quality bar across the organization through your work, your feedback, and your taste.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity).
  • Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms.
