About The Position

KADANT BLACK CLAWSON LLC (KBC) is an established leader in equipment and systems for the international pulp and paper process industries. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in Lebanon, OH, where we design and manufacture our products for customers across the globe. We currently seek to fill the position of Product Data Analyst to support data analytics efforts for customer R&D projects that focus on developing digital models of the stock prep pulping loop to improve performance optimization, all while advancing KBC’s mission of being a forward-thinking, collaborative, and ethical business. This role is part of Kadant Black Clawson’s digital transformation initiative, leveraging data to help paper mill customers achieve system and process optimization. Hours of work are M-F 8 AM to 5 PM or similar office hours. Role is eligible for hybrid work schedule (3 days in person, 2 days remote) after all onboarding is completed.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data cleaning, transformation, and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, Python, Tableau, or other data visualization/analytics tools.
  • Experience using machine learning languages such as Python, R, or other applicable languages.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites.
  • Demonstrates KBC values of personal accountability, discipline, trust, and proactive action.
  • A bachelor’s degree in data science, business analytics, computer science, or engineering is required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a data analytics role required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI/LLM tools for data analysis and automation preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing data, engineering systems, or industrial production environments is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, cleans, and organizes process data from customers’ DCS and stock preparation equipment.
  • Supports the development of predictive and optimization models under the guidance of the Product Data Analytics Manager.
  • Creates data visualizations, graphs, and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to communicate insights.
  • Uses data science/machine learning tools such as Python or R to develop algorithms and forecasts.
  • Supports analysis of equipment reliability and performance metrics to drive operational improvements.
  • Collaborates with Sales Managers, R&D engineers, and external contractors to support project updates and presentations.
  • Contributes to defining project scope, documenting business and data problems, and proposing analytical solutions.
  • Researches and evaluates data science software, add-ins, and APIs to support ongoing projects.
  • Helps document analytics processes and workflows for repeatable customer projects.
  • Participates in integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support automation and business insights.
  • Maintains project records, reports, and meeting documentation as assigned.
