About The Position

CBS Newspath is seeking a Producer with a strong commitment to journalism to coordinate news production and newsgathering operations for its Regional team. This position helps manage the network's response to breaking news and responds to video and editorial requests from CBS broadcasts, owned stations, affiliates, and clients. Excellent people/customer service skills are required. The Producer is also responsible for clipping and publishing Newspath video and scripts and assisting in the transmission and distribution of live video, edited video and correspondent packages. The candidate must have experience in working with sources to confirm and verify facts and video elements, especially during breaking news. The person in this position will work directly with stations/affiliates in the southern part of the United States including Florida, Texas, and the Carolinas. A strong knowledge of weather, politics, immigration, and other topics that impact this region is required. Candidate must be familiar with all major social media platforms and vehicles for engaging audiences on a digital level. This includes - but is not limited to - Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube. Part of this position’s editorial responsibilities is to be able to spot viral and pre-trending content and turn it around for our brand. You must be well-versed in the feel and best practices for social-friendly videos (including rights & clearances).

Requirements

Strong commitment to journalism
Excellent people/customer service skills
Experience in working with sources to confirm and verify facts and video elements, especially during breaking news
Strong knowledge of weather, politics, immigration, and other topics that impact the southern U.S. region
Familiarity with all major social media platforms and vehicles for engaging audiences on a digital level (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube)
Well-versed in the feel and best practices for social-friendly videos (including rights & clearances)
Weekend and nightside responsibilities
Strong editorial judgement

Nice To Haves

4 years local and/or network TV news experience or show producer experience
Avid editing software experience
Knowledge of regional television markets and station relationships
Degree in broadcast journalism or related field
