About The Position
FOX 5/KUSI is looking for a Multimedia Producer with the right mix of news judgment, creativity, and command of all things digital and social media, who is adept with livestreaming and editing video, writing breaking news and original articles. Job Description Prepares, writes, copy-edits and posts news, community and promotional videos, photos and written content for fox5sandiego.com and kusi.com, streaming and mobile apps, and social media Spot opportunities for video production for our streaming app and website Model best practices for video editing, content management and streaming app scheduling Ensures factual, grammatical and legal accuracy online and upholds the station's established journalistic standards Maintains the website homepage and builds special sections for breaking news and other ongoing coverage efforts and initiatives from the station or company Monitors real-time metrics to guide content decisions and reviews past video and article performance to identify topics of interest to our audience Works closely with the greater newsroom and station contributors to have online and streaming content properly published Able to source video from the newsroom systems to edit new videos and photos for use online and on streaming platforms Able to write multiple, concise texts that accompany content shared on social media, through mobile and desk alerts, and other platforms Monitors local and statewide topics and pitches trending high-interest videos and articles Finds new ways to convert one-time and regular visitors into loyal followers Excellent video and photo editing skills, writing and editing skills, and attention to detail Ability to function under tight deadlines and shifting priorities Able to identify tools that can be used to create content or measure its performance online Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or video production, or has at least 2 years of experience with video editing, as a digital content producer or related experience
- Must be familiar with Adobe video and photo editing and production tools, video content management, streaming platforms, OBS, Wordpress, SEO best practices
- Excellent video editing, writing and editing skills, attention to detail
- Familiarity with news writing and journalistic standards
- Ability to function under extreme deadline pressure
- Must have strong news judgment and work with the online team and the greater newsroom to plan daily and long-term content
- Schedule flexibility to work night, weekends and holidays
- Strong multi-tasking abilities and quick decision-making
Nice To Haves
- Ability to produce Spanish-language content is a plus
- Basic HTML, CSS, Flash and other relevant technology skills are a plus
