About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Produce Sales Representative to support and grow our customer base while driving profitable sales. The Produce Sales Representative is responsible for coordinating and managing produce sales activities to ensure customer satisfaction, sales growth, and company profitability. This role serves assigned accounts and supports other company sales accounts as needed, while maintaining strong professional relationships with customers and internal teams.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in food sales
  • (2+ years of experience as a chef will be considered)
  • Strong knowledge of produce commodities with the ability to provide consultative support to customers
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and emotional intelligence skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with paperwork and figures
  • Strong follow-through and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and remain self-motivate

Responsibilities

  • Daily local travel to customer locations
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of produce markets, growing conditions, and seasonal availability
  • Present profitable programs and solutions to existing and prospective customers
  • Communicate customer needs and preferences to buyers, operations, and sales support teams
  • Maintain professional relationships with restaurant owners, retailers, vendors, and internal staff
  • Organize and assist with special sales initiatives and promotions
  • Participate in special projects supporting company operations and growth
  • Manage individual account sales and gross profit performance
  • Ensure all orders are submitted prior to scheduled cutoff times
  • Process and submit credit memos and required paperwork within established timelines
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly account reviews with the Credit Department to ensure accounts remain within terms
  • Maintain accurate account profiles, including order guides, statements, pricing, and reporting
  • Verify pricing accuracy on all customer accounts
  • Attend sales meetings, training sessions, food shows, and conferences as required
  • Comply with all safety training guidelines and operate within SOPs outlined in the Peddler’s Son Safety Manual
