About The Position

Directly supervise and coordinate all activities in the produce department. Duties include management functions, such as purchasing, budgeting, accounting, inventory, and personnel work, in addition to supervisory duties.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of grocery.

  • Proficient computer skills using Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Supervise activities such as product quality, quantity, placement, rotation, signage and displays.
  • Keep shelves faced and stocked.
  • Will work closely with the produce buyer on specials, floor displays and product ordering.
  • Responsible for the department appearance, cleanliness and adherence to both government and company ordinances.
  • Come up with and follow a weekly cleaning schedule.
  • Supervise, train, coach, mentor and motivate department team members, and encourage them to take positive action and accountability for their work.
  • Plan, prepare and post employee work schedules in ADP and keep records of employees' work schedules and timecards.
  • Review inventory for product rotation daily to prevent shrinkage.
  • Accurately complete paperwork and logs throughout the day (ex. shrink log, transfer log, code invoices).
  • Oversee the receiving of products and check invoices for correct product, quantity, and quality upon arrival.
  • Communicate immediately to the vendor company if the delivered produce is sub-par, wrong produce, incorrect count, or for any other discrepancies.
  • Ensure products are appropriately stored in a timely manner.
  • Examine merchandise to ensure that it is correctly priced and displayed and that it functions as advertised.
  • Monitor sales activities to ensure that customers receive satisfactory service and quality goods.
  • Assign employees to specific duties.
  • Perform work activities of co-workers, such as cleaning and organizing shelves and displays and selling merchandise.
  • Count inventory and turn in monthly.
  • Review inventory and sales records to prepare reports for accounting and budget departments.
  • Inventory stock and reorder when inventory drops to a specified level.
  • Establish policies, goals, objectives, and procedures for the department.
  • Enforce safety, health, and security rules.

  • Consistently present a professional personal image and abide by the company’s uniform policy
  • Maintain safe, clean and well-organized working and shopping environment
  • Comply with all regulatory rules and regulations including HACCP, OSHA, Dept. of Labor, Weights and Measures and local food and sanitation laws.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends
  • Timely and consistent attendance is required.
