Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with focus on fast, friendly service.
  • Assists customers by making informed product suggestions.
  • Engages in suggestive selling through telephone calls, intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one customer interaction.
  • Answers incoming calls professionally; resolves customer complaints and escalates to the Store Director when necessary.
  • Plans daily operations and monitors production processes to ensure compliance with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Follows and maintains department standards, including Fresh‑Made guidelines and overall product freshness requirements.
  • Ensures proper code dating procedures are enforced for all products within the department.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Trims, cuts, wraps, trays, displays, and waters produce.
  • Builds and maintains produce displays; rotates stock and removes outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensures cleanliness, organization, and safe working conditions throughout the department.
  • Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • May oversee the operation and maintenance of the Salad Bar and Fresh‑Made areas (where applicable).
  • Maintains and organizes the produce cooler.
  • Monitors employee productivity and evaluates overall performance.
  • Schedules employees to ensure proper coverage and service levels.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Schedules, supervises, trains, and assigns duties to department staff.
  • Trains employees on store policies, product handling, sales techniques, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Identifies high‑potential employees and supports development and advancement opportunities.
  • Participates in personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary processes.
  • Prepares sales and inventory reports; participates in physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Controls inventory levels to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stocks, rotates, and replenishes product according to division standards.
  • Orders produce products and maintains inventory levels in accordance with Division directives.
  • Supervises reclamation processes and ensures orderly, in‑stock conditions in the backroom and produce department.
  • Controls shrink and manages department costs effectively.
  • Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders against invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating merchandise.
  • Ensures adherence to temperature standards, storage requirements, and proper packaging methods.
  • Implements correct product preparation techniques.
  • Operates related equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
