About The Position

The Produce Manager is responsible for directing and supervising all functions and activities of Produce Department personnel to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the department, and to ensure that the work shifts of all department personnel contribute to the financial best interests of the store. This role involves following all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding Bakery operations, safety, and sanitation. Key responsibilities include achieving financial goals such as sales and gross profit maximization, minimizing shrink and supply expense, taking customer orders for specialty bakery products, fulfilling weekly orders to ensure adequate supply levels, and adhering to company policy for product processing, preparation, and packaging. The manager must maintain a clean work environment, complete necessary paperwork for the Produce Department, and handle the selection, training, development, and scheduling of Produce associates. Tasks will also be assigned by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions
  • Regular vision
  • Occasional walking, lifting, carrying loads up to 50 lbs, stooping, crouching, crawling, and kneeling
  • Frequent amounts of standing, sitting, pushing/pulling loads up to 100 lbs, tasting and smelling
  • Constant amounts of handling, feeling, talking and hearing
  • Direct subordinates in implementing plan of action and goal attainment
  • Promote sales through courteous customer service
  • Safe operation of equipment
  • High School Diploma - General Studies
  • 2-5 years Prior Retail or Produce operations experience

Responsibilities

  • Following all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding Bakery operations, safety, and sanitation
  • Achieving financial goals such as sales and gross profit maximization, as well as minimization of shrink and supply expense
  • Taking customer orders accurately for cakes and other specialty bakery products
  • Fulfilling weekly orders in accordance with store policy to ensure adequate supply levels
  • Adhering to company policy through proper processing, preparation, and packaging of product
  • Maintaining and enforcing a clean work environment to ensure sanitary conditions
  • Completing all necessary paperwork relating to Produce Department
  • Selection, training, development and scheduling of Produce associates
  • Performing tasks as assigned by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager
