About The Position

Position OverviewThe Nuclear Fuel Procurement team is responsible for securing and managing nuclear fuel materials that support the safe, reliable operation of NextEra Energy’s nuclear fleet. This role supports nuclear fuel procurement activities by managing commercial information, developing financial models, and preparing materials used to support procurement decisions and leadership reviews. This position is embedded in nuclear fuel business operations, working closely with procurement leadership, finance, legal, nuclear operations, and external nuclear fuel vendors. The role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and comfort taking ownership of complex workstreams while learning the nuclear fuel cycle. This is not an IT, systems, or software delivery role. The focus is on commercial execution, financial modeling, vendor coordination, and procurement support within a regulated energy environment.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting financial, commercial, procurement, or vendor‑facing work in an operations‑driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain Excel models, explain assumptions, reconcile changes, and support decision‑making
  • Comfort preparing materials for leadership that summarize complex information clearly and concisely
  • Willingness to take ownership, ask questions, and learn a specialized and regulated domain
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 3+ years

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to regulated industries, commodity‑driven environments, or long‑cycle procurement is a plus
  • Prior nuclear or energy experience is helpful but not required
  • Exposure to SOX or audit processes is beneficial but not mission‑critical for this role
  • Bachelor's Degree

Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing management of nuclear fuel supply agreements by tracking pricing structures, commercial terms, contractual milestones, and delivery schedules across fuel cycle components (uranium, conversion, enrichment, fabrication)
  • Develop and maintain Excel‑based financial models used for budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis related to nuclear fuel procurement
  • Prepare PowerPoint materials used in recurring management reviews, including explanations of cost drivers, variances, assumptions, and tradeoffs
  • Assist with annual budget planning and periodic forecast updates for nuclear fuel procurement activities
  • Support day‑to‑day coordination with nuclear fuel vendors, including tracking contract deliverables, pricing mechanisms, documentation requirements, and supplier communications
  • Assist in preparing vendor‑related materials for internal reviews, contract discussions, and supplier performance tracking
  • Coordinate with internal partners (Finance, Legal, Nuclear Business Operations) to support procurement execution, documentation, and reporting needs
  • Respond to ad hoc requests that require synthesizing financial data with procurement, vendor, or market context
  • Take increasing ownership of workstreams as proficiency with nuclear fuel procurement activities develops
