Position Overview The Procurement Specialist (Buyer) supports utility and infrastructure construction projects by executing day-to-day purchasing activities for materials, equipment, and services. This role plays a critical part in ensuring crews have the materials they need — when they need them — to safely and efficiently build critical power delivery and infrastructure systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated procurement professional with 2–4 years of experience who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Requirements

2–4 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain
Understanding of construction material procurement processes
Ability to manage multiple purchase requests in a deadline-driven environment
Strong analytical and negotiation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective communication skills across field and corporate teams
Ability to work independently while supporting collaborative project teams

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Experience supporting construction, utility, infrastructure, or industrial projects strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Source and procure materials for utility construction projects including poles, wire, transformers, conduit, hardware, PPE, and related infrastructure materials
Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with project budgets and schedules
Solicit and evaluate vendor quotes to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery
Negotiate pricing, freight terms, and delivery schedules within established authority
Track and expedite orders to support active field operations
Partner with Project Managers, Field Supervision, and Warehouse teams to align purchasing with project needs
Monitor material availability and mitigate supply chain risks
Resolve vendor discrepancies related to pricing, invoices, and shipments
Maintain accurate procurement documentation within ERP systems
Support vendor onboarding and compliance requirements
Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
